Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has been on fire of late. His goalie coach explains why he thinks the 24-year-old has had so much success.

Now, the answer is clear.
Sergei Bobrovsky has registered an impressive run of performances over his last nine games, which has helped propel the Blue Jackets to a franchise record-tying eight-game point streak. Compiling a 6-1-2 record with a 1.55 goals-against average and .946 save percentage over that span, Bobrovsky has seemingly solidified himself as the Blue Jackets' No. 1 net minder.
With the spotlight of short-term success bringing a wealth of praise, Columbus goalie coach Ian Clark informed Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch that this run is largely due to Bobrovsky’s willingness to work on his flaws.
Despite the lack of practice reps as a result of the shortened season, Clark believes the 24-year-old’s work ethic and acceptance of new ideas have paid off.
“There are some areas of his game that we’ve worked real hard on,” Clark said. “One is getting bigger in traffic, getting that butterfly (stance) higher, covering a higher area. An area of his game that has been a little bit chronic for him is getting shrunken down in his position. ... He’s playing a calmer game now, and as you get some starts back-to-back-to-back, you get into a rhythm.”
The Blue Jackets will return to action on Thursday night when they host the Chicago Blackhawks. Bobrovsky is expected to get the start.
