Not only did Quebecois lose big league baseball when the Expos moved to Washington nine years ago, but they also lost a great excuse to escape the frozen North and head to sunny Florida. Here’s an Expos 1981 spring training program, a souvenir of the one year in which they would go on to the postseason. Oddly, Montreal had two of their best seasons during strike years. Overall, they played .517 in strike years and .480 in non-strike years. A cynic might suggest they simply didn’t have time to find their level.
