Tyler Polumbus re-signs with Washington Redskins

Tyler Polumbus announced his new deal with the Washington Redskins on Twitter.

USA TODAY Sports

Offensive lineman Tyler Polumbus and the Washington Redskins have agreed to a new two-year deal, Polumbus tweeted on Monday.

Polumbus signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2008. After bouncing between the Broncos, Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks, he signed with the Redskins in 2011. Last season, he took over the left tackle role on the Washington offensive line, starting 15 of 17 games.

Polumbus visited the Jacksonville Jaguars last Thursday, and he had shown interest in the franchise. But it looks like he couldn't pass on the opportunity to return to Washington. As Adam Stites at Big Cat Country pointed out, Polumbus didn't receive great marks for his play in 2012:

Polumbus, 27, was the starting right tackle for the Redskins in 2012 and for a few games in 2011, but struggled in the role, according to Pro Football Focus, finishing the 2012 season with a -21.7 grade. He did earn positive grades in six games, though, highlighting how inconsistent and up-and-down his season was.

The re-signing of Polumbus means Washington will return all five starters from last year’s offensive line, per Mike Jones of the Washington Post. The Redskins averaged 383.2 yards and 27.2 points per game, which ranked fifth and fourth in the NFL, respectively.
