Washington Capitals forward Brooks Laich is expected to return to the Capitals lineup against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night, according to multiple reports following the team's morning skate.

This will mark Laich’s first game of the 2013 season as he has been forced to sit out since sustaining a groin injury in November while playing in Switzerland during the lockout.

The 29-year-old forward returned to team practice on March 11 and expressed that he felt comfortable during the workout. Over the course of the next week, he increased his intensity in order to test how the injury was responding. During morning skate on Tuesday, Laich spent time on the fourth line with Jay Beagle and Matt Hendricks. According to Katie Carrera of the Washington Post, Laich is expected to be moved up onto the top line at some point.

Tuesday night’s game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET.
