NHL schedule: Five questions for Tuesday

A daily feature which asks the five hardest-hitting questions imaginable about this day in the NHL. Will our quandaries be answered? (That doesn’t count as one of the five questions.)

USA TODAY Sports

1. Will the Pittsburgh Penguins extend their winning-streak to 10 games?

Seems like a lot of teams have gone on extended winning-streaks this season. Regardless, the Penguins have won nine straight and have the opportunity to make it 10 against the Washington Capitals.

2. Will the Boston Bruins take over sole possession of first place in the Northeast Division?

Entering Tuesday night, the Bruins trail the division-leading Montreal Canadiens by one point. Dependent upon the outcome of the Canadiens' game against the Buffalo Sabres, the Bruins will take over first place if they tie the Canadiens in points or have more points than them (obviously). Boston has played one fewer game than Montreal, which would be the tie-breaker in the event of a tie in points.

3. Will the New York Rangers jump into eighth place in the Eastern Conference?

Currently two points back of the New Jersey Devils for the final playoff spot, the Rangers can steal eighth place with a win over their Atlantic Division rivals on Tuesday night. Much like the Boston-Montreal situation, the Rangers have played one game fewer than the Devils and hold the tie-breaker.

4. Will Sergei Bobrovsky hold the Nashville Predators to less than three goals?

Bobrovsky, in case you hadn’t heard, is on fire right now. Over the course of his last eight games, he has recorded two shutouts and has held opponents to two goals or less in each game. Will that continue against the Predators on Tuesday night?

5. Will the Phoenix Coyotes avenge their loss against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night?

The Coyotes lost to the Kings, 4-0 on Monday. Round Two will commence Tuesday night in Los Angeles for the second straight night. Will the Coyotes exact revenge?
