Florida Panthers forward Eric Selleck will face an NHL disciplinary hearing on Wednesday afternoon for starting a fight with Carolina's Kevin Westgarth on Tuesday night.

The Panther forward has already earned an automatic one-game suspension for his fight with Kevin Westgarth and now faces further discipline for the transgression.

With the Panthers leading 3-0 with just under three minutes remaining in regulation, Selleck left the bench and headed directly to Westgarth, leaving the bench to start a fight in the Hurricanes forward. Selleck put Westgarth into a bear hug, and then received an immediate and violent beat down.
Selleck appeared to be injured after the “fight” and was noticeably woozy and wobbly on his skates while being helped off the ice by teammates.
Selleck was hit with a fighting major, a game misconduct and a two-minute minor for instigating, and has received an automatic one-game suspension. Wednesday’s hearing will be in regards to Rule 70.2, which covers leaving the bench on a legal line change for the specific purpose of starting an altercation.
It should be noted that this was the NHL debut for Selleck, who has earned a reputation as a fighter in the AHL with 598 penalty minutes in 198 games.
This was also his first NHL fight. And perhaps his last.
