NIT 2013 schedule and bracket: Virginia to face St. John’s on Sunday

Virginia and St. John’s will face off on Sunday in the second round of the NIT.

The 2013 NIT tournament continues on Sunday with more second-round action, as the No. 1 Virginia Cavaliers will face the No. 5 St. John's Red Storm.

The game will tip off at 11 a.m. ET time, with coverage of the game on ESPN.

Virginia faced the No. 8 Norfolk St. Spartans in the first round, advancing with a 67-56 victory. The Cavaliers had their struggles against the Spartans, as they turned the ball over 18 times and missed 15 free throws, but played tough defense, holding Norfolk State to 27 percent shooting from the field. Akil Mitchell posted a double-double for the Cavaliers, scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

St John's advanced thanks to a buzzer-beater, defeating the No. 4 St. Joseph's Hawks, 63-61. Sir`Dominic Pointer scored 15 points, grabbed seven rebounds, dished out five assists and made a jump shot as time expired to win the game for the Red Storm.
