The St. Louis Blues could once again turn to veteran center Jason Arnott, Andy Strickland of True Hockey reports.

The veteran center will skate with the Blues in practice this week.

The Blues want to see Arnott practice, which he’ll do this week, before officially making a decision. GM Doug Armstrong tells me there are no strings attached. They’ll simply let him skate with the team and take it from there.
Arnott has played over 1,200 career games including 72 last year with the Blues so they have a pretty good idea what he brings to the table. It’s not like he has to set the world on fire in practice this week. With the Blues playing Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday there will be limited practice time available.
Arnott played in 72 games with the Blues last season, scoring 17 goals, but was shut down in the postseason due to a knee injury that limited his effectiveness on the ice. The decision to sit Arnott created a notable fracture between the player and the team, although Strickland reports that things have since been mended.
The veteran center had offseason surgery on the ailing knee and then missed out on a chance to sign with the New York Rangers when he reportedly failed a physical. Arnott skated with the Dallas Stars before the lockout officially ended and has been skating with the Oshawa Generals while waiting on a call from another NHL team.
In 1,244 career NHL games, Arnott has 417 goals and 938 points to go along with 1,242 points.
