The Cleveland Browns have named Michael Lombardi as the team's general manager, according to a report from NFL.com. The announcement represents a title change for Lombardi, who was hired to be Cleveland's vice president of player personnel on Jan. 18.

In addition to the new job for Lombardi, the Browns have named Ray Farmer assistant general manager. Farmer will work with the Browns’ college and pro scouting departments, according to the report.
Lombardi joined the Browns after working several years as an analyst for the NFL Network and a writer for Sports Illustrated, National Football Post and NFL.com. Before his time as an observer of the game, he held several front office positions, including stints with the Browns, San Francisco 49ers, St. Louis Rams, Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders.
Farmer is a former NFL player, spending three seasons from 1996-98 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He finished his career with 50 tackles, two sacks and one interception. From 2002-05, he was a scout with the Atlanta Falcons, and he spent 2006-12 as director of pro personnel with the Kansas City Chiefs.
