Hopkins vs Cloud live results: Round 12 - Bernard Hopkins wins unanimous decision to become oldest world champ ever

Round-by-round results from Bernard Hopkins vs. Tavoris Cloud. This post covers the action from round 12.

Hopkins came out in the final round of his bout with Tavoris Cloud, likely up on the scorecards, and he landed a hard right hand and then a hard uppercut that stunned Cloud a little bit.

As Cloud tried to come forward, Hopkins slipped shots against the ropes and landed some nice short counters and busted up the right eye of Cloud as well. Hopkins with another right hand and Cloud just isn’t getting things going this round like he needs to given the way the rest of the fight has gone. Hopkins again landed the lead right hand, then stepped away and landed a jab. Again, Hopkins slipped the shots of Cloud.

Hopkins just outclassed Cloud for much of the fight and did it more in the twelfth round to seemingly wrap up the victory, walking over and jawing with Andre Ward after the final bell. Hopkins and Cloud then got into it in the corner between rounds.

With Hopkins taking the final round in my eyes, the SBN card read 115-113 for Hopkins.

And when the official scorecards were read they were 116-112, 117-111, 116-112 all for Hopkins.

Bernard Hopkins broke his own record, winning a world title at 48 years of age. An incredible feat in a performance where he absolutely had to earn it and he simply was too good.
