Branden Albert missing from Chiefs offseason team activities

Offensive lineman Branden Albert didn’t show up on the first day of the Kansas City Chiefs’ offseason program.

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

The Kansas City Chiefs began offseason team activities Monday, and offensive lineman Branden Albert was the only player missing, according to Albert Breer of the NFL Network.

Albert has been a bit of a headache for the Chiefs this offseason. Kansas City placed the franchise tag on him March 4, and on March 22, the lineman signed his one-year, $9.82 million contract. After the Chiefs brought up the possibility of moving Albert from left tackle to right tackle, he expressed his displeasure with the potential change on Twitter. Since then, Kansas City has explored the idea of trading Albert.

A five-year veteran out of Virginia, Albert has started 71 games for the Chiefs since the team selected him with the 15th-overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. Last year, he played in 13 games, starting 11. At 6’5, 316 pounds, Albert has been a sizable force on the outside of Kansas City’s offensive line, and should he end up on the trading block, he would make a nice addition for any team trying to upgrade at left tackle.
