If you know someone in Boston and need to get in touch with them, here are a couple tips:
Use the Boston Marathon runner tracker, text instead of calling
- Here's a finish tracker from the Boston Marathon where you can see if an individual finished the race or not. Take note that many of those who did not finish the race were not allowed to finish due to the explosions causing police to shut down the area.
- Those who did not finish are being bussed to Boston Common, per a police scanner.
- Many have tweeted that texts -- not calls, as Boston's cell capacity is in trouble -- or iMessage, for those with iPhones, are the best way to get in touch with those in Boston.
- If you do call, the official government hotline to locate people potentially involved is 617-635-4500.Google has set up a Person Finder.
