The New York Rangers were well on their way to a 4-1 win over the New Jersey Devils in the third period, when a pane of glass broke. As is often the case, it took a little time to fix. So they went to the default happy happy good time song at sporting events, “Sweet Caroline.”
Awesome Bruins fan at Madison Square Garden softens us to ‘Sweet Caroline’ one more time
‘MURICA!

The song has taken on a little more significance in recent days, as the people of Boston often sing it at Red Sox games, and Neil Diamond even came to Fenway to belt it out awkwardly on Saturday. The cameras of NBC panned over to a woman who was clearly very moved by the song and took to singing it to her heart’s content.
I personally have gotten a little stone-hearted towards the song now that its been overused at sporting events. But damned if this person didn’t soften me up a little bit again. The fact that she’s a Bruins fan being cheered in New York, the American flag... everything. A beautiful little example of how sports and music sometimes just moves people.
