MLB viewing guide: Monday schedule spotlight
Jose Fernandez vs. Matt Harvey highlights Monday in MLB games.

Day | Home SP | Visit. SP | Time | Where |
29-Apr | Jose Fernandez (0-2), 4.50 ERA, 3.10 FIP | Matt Harvey (4-0), 1.54 ERA, 2.37 FIP | 7:10 pm ET | SNY, FOX Sports-Florida |
The combined age of these young starters (44) is just a year older than Mariano Rivera. It's extremely difficult for Harvey to improve on his already-stellar numbers thus far, but with pitcher-friendly Marlins Park and a weak lineup facing him, another marvelous (Harvelous?) start is not out of the question. However, Harvey must tread carefully around a player seven months his junior-Giancarlo Stanton has gone from zero homers in 2013 to three in just two days.
Day | Home SP | Visit. SP | Time | Where |
29-Apr | Andy Pettitte (3-1), 2.22 ERA, 3.56 FIP | Lucas Harrell (2-2), 4.08 ERA, 5.54 FIP | 7:08 pm ET | CSN, YES Network |
Pettitte will make his second career start against his former team from 2004-06, and although that game was just three years ago, it should not surprise anyone that everyone from that Astros lineup is now gone. The Yankees are coming off a four-game home sweep of the Blue Jays, who have not matched off-season expectations with their April. The Yanks lost two more players in that series as well, but they won each game thanks to contributions from Travis Hafner, Lyle Overbay, and Brennan Boesch. Welcome to the crazy world of the 2013 season, baseball fans.

Day | Home SP | Visit. SP | Time | Where |
29-Apr | Julio Teheran (1-0), 5.48 ERA, 5.69 FIP | Stephen Strasburg (1-4), 3.16 ERA, 3.31 FIP | 7:10 pm ET | MASN, Sports South, ESPN |
The once-sizzling Braves have won a game on just one of the previous ten days, all on the road. They return to "The Ted" to lick their wounds against the defending division champions. Fortunately for Braves fans, Strasburg and the Nats have underachieved in April despite recently taking three of four from the Reds. Which team will return to its winning ways?
Day | Home SP | Visit. SP | Time | Where |
29-Apr | Yovani Gallardo (2-1), 4.97 ERA, 3.75 FIP | Wandy Rodriguez (2-0), 1.66 ERA, 3.41 FIP | 8:10 pm ET | ROOT Sports, FOX Sports-Wisconsin |
Thanks to a MLB-high 8-2 record over the past 10 games, the Bucs vaulted to the top of the NL Central. The Brew Crew was rolling along with a nine-game winning streak before it was snapped by the Padres and the Dodgers took two of three from them over the weekend.
Day | Home SP | Visit. SP | Time | Where |
29-Apr | Ian Kennedy (1-2), 4.70 ERA, 3.94 FIP | Matt Cain (0-2), 6.59 ERA, 4.74 FIP | 9:40 pm ET | CSBA, FOX Sports-Arizona |
Day | Home SP | Visit. SP | Time | Where |
29-Apr | Ted Lilly (0-0), 1.80 ERA, 1.40 FIP | Tyler Chatwood (0-0), 6.00 ERA, 3,50 FIP | 10:10 pm ET | ROOT Sports, PRIME |
Outside of the last-place Padres, the NL West standings near the end of the first month likely represent a complete jumble of what people expected going into the season. The surprising Rockies and Diamondbacks are tied at the top with a 15-10 record, while the defending World Series champions and the preseason division favorites are both two losses behind them in the loss column.
