Astros announcers joke about Yu Darvish

Astros announcer: “That’ll force (Darvish) to learn some of the language in America.”

Watching a replay of the hit that broke up the perfect-game bid of Japanese-born Rangers starter Yu Darvish, a member of the Astros announcing team on CSN -- consisting of Bill Brown, Alan Ashby and Geoff Blum -- commented, “That’ll force the guy to learn some of the language here in America,” as you can see in the above video.

A bit of chuckling occurred after that, then the response, “Some of the more inappropriate language. I like it.”

“That was a fantastic performance.”

Another announcer chimed in: “A special night for the Japanese-born Yu Darvish.”

Before those comments, the Astros broadcast team watched several replays of Marwin Gonzalez's grounder up the middle that ended the perfect game before making the comment, and generally responded with disappointment that Darvish was not able to complete the perfect game.

If successful, Darvish would have thrown the second perfect game in Rangers history. Kenny Rogers threw the organization's only perfect game on July 28, 1994.

The Rangers won the game, 7-0.
