2013 NFL Draft rumors: Dolphins expected to take offensive tackle in 1st round

Miami is expected to address the loss of Jake Long in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE

NFL super agent Drew Rosenhaus expects the Miami Dolphins to select an offensive tackle in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, according to Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post.

It would make sense for the Dolphins to target a tackle, considering the team recently lost Jake Long in free agency. Since Miami selected Long with the first overall pick in the 2008 draft, he started 74 games in five seasons. However, he signed a four-year, $34 million contract with the St. Louis Rams on March 22, leaving the Dolphins with a big hole on their offensive line.

This year's draft class features several top-tier tackle prospects, including Luke Joeckel, Eric Fisher, Lane Johnson, D.J. Fluker and Justin Pugh. It's unlikely that Miami will get Joeckel or Fisher, as they are expected by many analysts to go in the top five, but Johnson, Fluker and Pugh should be available when the Dolphins select at No. 12.

In the recent SB Nation Mock Draft, Miami was projected to take tight end Tyler Eifert with its first pick.
