Even if you don't like sports, there are many sports logos with which you may be familiar. But here's the thing: even if you DO like sports -- even if you instantly recognize a myriad of logos and create the semiotic link in your head to the team they represent on a daily basis -- they're insanely hard to recreate from memory alone.
Draw a sports logo from memory: Seattle Mariners
The Mariners are still a thing! Let’s try to draw that thing using only our powers of recollection.

This is our ongoing series where we attempt to recreate these logos using only a drawing implement and our own all-too-fallible human memories. Please enjoy our horrible attempt at the logo and accompanying anecdote, then give it a shot for yourself in the comments below. Have fun!
The Seattle Mariners are great. This is indisputable. I don't mean that in the "good at baseball sense," of course. Just in a general way. It's impossible to hate the Mariners. They're like the exact opposite of a ZimBear. They're cute and cuddly and don't make you want to run screaming into a lake.
The Mariners are nautical-themed, obviously. Rather than the obvious choice of having a guy in Jockey shorts with wings on his ankles as a logo, the M's started out by having POSEIDON'S TRIDENT as their primary logo. Now their logo involves a compass.
BOATS!
But that's all the hints you get. This is my attempts at drawing their primary cap logo:
Not so great! But let's see how well you can do, hotshot. When you've drawn your logo and posted in the comments below (NOT before), click here to see how well your logo stacks up.
