Boston Bruins defenseman Wade Redden will not be available to play in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday night, head coach Claude Julien announced on Friday.
NHL playoffs 2013: Wade Redden out for Game 5
Wade Redden will not play against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday night. One of Matt Bartkowski or Dougie Hamilton will dress in his place.
Redden is considered day-to-day due to unspecified reasons.
In four games this postseason, Redden has registered two points (goal, assist) and has averaged 15:22 of ice time -- with 2:25 coming on the power play -- over 90 shifts (22.5 shifts per game average).
With Redden out of the lineup, the Bruins will dress one of Dougie Hamilton or Matt Bartkowski in his place. Hamilton played in 42 regular season games in 2013 but has only participated in one postseason game. Bartkowski played in 11 regular season games but has yet to play in the playoffs.
Bartkowski was taking line rushes with Adam McQuaid during morning skate on Friday. This has led many to believe that Bartkowski will get the call for Game 5.
