Official World Golf Rankings 2013: Tiger Woods strengthens hold on No. 1

Woods strengthened his grip on the top spot with his 78th PGA Tour victory over the weekend.

Tiger Woods further solidified his place atop the World Golf Rankings with his win at The Players Championship on Sunday. It was Woods’ 78th career PGA Tour victory, and it allowed him to gain some ground on world No. 2 Rory McIlroy, who finished tied for eighth in the event. Adam Scott, Justin Rose and Brandt Snedeker round out the top five in the latest rankings.

Kevin Streelman was one of the weekend’s big winners, at least in terms of the rankings -- he moved up 18 spots to 36th following his runner-up finish Sunday. Jeff Maggert and David Lingmerth, who tied with Streelman for second, also made big moves. Sergio Garcia moved up in the standings as well, despite a terrible finish to The Players that saw him drop from a tie for first to a tie for eighth, six strokes behind Woods.

Here is a look at the current top 10 in the World Golf Rankings:

1. Tiger Woods
2. Rory McIlroy
3. Adam Scott
4. Justin Rose
5. Brandt Snedeker
6. Luke Donald
7. Louis Oosthuizen
8. Graeme McDowell
9. Steve Stricker
10. Phil Mickelson
