NASCAR community remembers Dick Trickle

Racing legend Dick Trickle will be fondly remembered. Here are just a few of the comments from peers and fans following the news of his passing.

In a career that spanned four decades, Dick Trickle left a lasting impression on the NASCAR community. He was a mentor, a competitor and, to anyone who ever met him, a friend.

In a statement released shortly after his passing, NASCAR CEO Brian France called Trickle "a true fan favorite."

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Dick Trickle on his passing today,” France said. “Dick was a legend in the short-track racing community, particularly in his home state of Wisconsin, and he was a true fan favorite. Personalities like Dick Trickle helped shape our sport. He will be missed.”

Moments after the news broke that Trickle had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Twitter was flooded with remembrances of one of the more colorful figures in NASCAR history:
