NASCAR Dover 2013 schedule: Sprint Cup qualifying set for Friday

A glance at the weekend in Dover before the Sprint Cup’s FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks on Sunday afternoon.

NASCAR heads to Dover this weekend to take on “The Monster Mile,” otherwise known as the Dover International Speedway, as the Sprint Cup’s 13th race of the season, the FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks, runs on Sunday afternoon.

Friday, Sprint Cup Series drivers have their first practice from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET, followed by the last practice for Nationwide Series drivers from 12:40 p.m. to 3 p.m.

At 3:15 p.m., Sprint Cup qualifying begins. We’ll know after that where last year’s winner of the event, Jimmie Johnson -- who is also the current Sprint Cup points leader -- will start. All of Friday’s practices, as well as Sprint Cup qualifying, will be televised on the SPEED channel.

Saturday starts with a quick Sprint Cup practice from 10 to 10:55 a.m. ET (also airing on SPEED), followed by qualifying for the Nationwide Series’ 5-hour Energy 200 at 11:05 a.m., which will be televised on ESPN2. After the Sprint Cup’s final practice session from 12:50 - 1:50 p.m. (on SPEED), the 5-hour Energy 200 hits the air on ESPN at 2:30, with an expected green flag time of 2:46 p.m.

Sunday is all about the FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks. Television coverage on Fox starts at 12:30 p.m. ET. If you’re up earlier, SPEED’s pre-race show gets going at 10:30 a.m.

The race itself is slated to start at 1 p.m. ET, but the green flag is expected to drop closer to 1:15 p.m. on Fox. Radio coverage of the race is available on SiriusXM Satellite’s NASCAR Channel 90 or via the Motor Racing Network. You can find an affiliate here or listen to it streaming here.
