Berlino Di Tiger (BRZ) put away Southern Dude late in the stretch and then held off a late, hard charge from Chamberlain Bridge to win the Grade 3 Twins Spires Turf Sprint on the Kentucky Derby under card.
Kentucky Derby results 2013: Twin Spires Turf Sprint
Berlino Di Tiger springs the upset at odds of 11/1.

Southern Dude and Berlino Di Tiger broke well from the gate and engaged in a speed duel through the first half mile of the race, carving out factions of 21.85 and 44.55 for the half mile. Regally Ready, away a step slow and jostled around within the first 100 yards, chased the two leaders from about three to four lengths back down the backstretch. The leaders put away most of the field at the top of the lane, but Southern Dude couldn’t keep up with the speedy Berlino Di Tiger and eventually gave way inside the final furlong. Chamberlain Bridge, a nine-year-old gelding and a former Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint winner, came flying late down the middle of the turf course but couldn’t beat the winner to the wire.
Berlino Di Tiger is a five-year-old horse by Tiger Heart out of a Torrential mare (Rainha Da Bateria (BRZ), trained by Eduardo Caramont and ridden by Leandro Goncalves.
With steady rain falling at Churchill Downs, the turf course was downgraded from “Firm” to “Good”.
