Delaunay stalked the early speed of Breeders’ Cup Sprint champion Trinniberg down the backstretch and pulled away to impressively win the Grade 2 Churchill Downs Stakes on the Kentucky Derby under card. Long shot Pass the Dice rallied well in deep stretch to finish second, while Laurie’s Rocket held to finish third. Handsome Mike rounded out a superfecta that paid over $1,000 to a $1 base wager.
