I think we were all surprised that Faith Hill ending her tenure as the Sunday Night Football opening theme singer counted as news. I mean, the song isn’t exactly “Are You Ready For Some Football?” and yes, Hill obviously has ... er, visual aspects that make her performance a must-watch for some. Still, that it was a headline kind of baffled me.

That said, NBC seems to understand what a big deal this is. They announced a press conference for today that revealed a “major addition” to their Sunday Night Football team. To be fair, the singer they picked to replace Hill might be more relevant now than Hill was when she was hired in 2007. Country superstar Carrie Underwood will replace Hill in the weekly singing of “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” to a nation of long-ago inebriated, weary football fans every Sunday night.
