2013 Belmont Stakes post positions draw: Time and online stream

Oxbow and Orb headline the 2013 Belmont Stakes field and we’ll find out their starting positions when the post positions draw is announced on Wednesday.

The draw for the 2013 Belmont Stakes will be announced Wednesday morning, revealing the post positions and opening line odds for Orb, Oxbow and the rest of the field.

With Always in a Tiz pulling out of the field on Tuesday, 14 horses are expected to draw into the Belmont Stakes field on Wednesday. Orb, the Kentucky Derby winner and Oxbow, the Preakness Stakes winner are expected to open as two of the favorites for Saturday’s race.

The post position draw will be announced from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET on Wednesday. There will be a live online stream of Wednesday’s post draw at BelmontStakes.com. HRTV will provide live television coverage beginning at 11 a.m. ET.

While a horse can’t win the race with a draw, its chances can take a hit depending on which post it gets. Horses running out of Post 1 have had the most success in the Belmont with 23 wins, according to Daily Racing Form. Posts 3 and 5 have had the second-most success, with 14 previous winners starting from each post.

The 145th running of the Belmont Stakes is scheduled for Saturday, with television coverage on NBC from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Here is a look at the 14 horses expected to draw into the field.
