The post positions for the 2013 Belmont Stakes were announced Wednesday afternoon by the New York Racing Association. This year’s Kentucky Derby winner, Orb, lands in Gate 5 after getting positioned on the inside track during The Preakness Stakes.
Belmont Stakes 2013 post positions: Orb draws Gate 5
After an unlucky draw in the Preakness, Kentucky Derby winner Orb will start from Gate 5 in this weekend’s Belmont Stakes.


For Orb -- at 3/1 odds -- it’s a stronger starting position than the one he worked with in the second leg of the Triple Crown. The winner of this year’s Preakness, Oxbow, gets Gate 7. Among other possible favorites, Freedom Child and Revolutionary -- 8/1 and 9/2 odds -- will start from Gates 2 and 9.
