John Deere Classic 2013 purse: Jordan Spieth takes winner’s share as Zach Johnson stumbles

19-year old Jordan Spieth has his hands on the winner’s share of the 2013 John Deere Classic, as a late mistake by Zach Johnson prevented him from repeating as champion.

Jordan Spieth will take him $828,000 with the winner’s share of the 2013 John Deere Classic purse, with his victory in the five-hole playoff giving him the biggest chunk of the $4.6 million at stake.

Zach Johnson, who won the event in 2012, came incredibly close to having that winner’s share for himself. A bogey on the final hole of regulation opened the door to Spieth and Johnson couldn’t hold on in the playoff. Finishing in a two-way tie for second, his payday dropped to $404,800. David Hearn, the third man who participated in the five-hole playoff, will receive the same.
