British Open 2013 odds: Tiger Woods the early favorite

Tiger may be the early favorite, but he has a target on his back, questions about his health and Phil Mickelson coming off a big win.

Golf’s heavy hitters head to Murifield for the 2013 British Open, with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson headlining the field. Woods, currently World No. 1, won the event in 2006 but has posted mixed results since. Mickelson enters the event with the momentum of having won the 2013 Scottish Open, when he posted a narrow playoff victory over Branden Grace.

Woods, who tied for third in the 2012 edition of the event, is the odds-on favorite to win the Open. Recent reports, though, have suggested that he may not be healthy enough to perform to his potential. That would be disappointing for U.S. Open winner Justin Rose, who has said he’s looking forward to facing off against Woods.

Below are some of the favorites in the tournament, with odds provided by OddsShark. The complete field can be found here:

  • Tiger Woods 8/1
