Panamanian striker Yairo Yau has signed a new deal with Sydney FC after a productive first season on loan from Sporting San Miguelito. The 23-year-old striker will get another chance to combine with Alessandro Del Piero and a first crack at working with newly-signed Corey Gamerio in 2013/14. Yau’s second loan deal will reach through the end of the upcoming season.
Yairo Yau returns to Sydney FC on loan
Sydney’s second leading scorer returns for a second season on loan from Sporting San Miguelito in Panama.

A club press release quoted Yau as saying:
“I am happy to be continuing my career with Sydney FC. I like Sydney, the fans and my teammates. I am excited to be back in the Sydney FC team.”
Manager Frank Farina had much more to say about bringing the dynamic Panamanian attacker back to the A-League:
”Yairo is young, he’s 23, he scored six goals ten appearances last year so that was the key. If you ask any football manager in the world what their priority is, it would be a striker who can score goals, has pace and is comfortable on the ball and he ticks all of those boxes.
”Coming to a new country, a new football culture is always difficult and with the attributes he has, he’s very quick and can score goals. We thought he was well worth another look for another season where he won’t have any transitional period and hopefully he can improve on that goal tally.
“I’m expecting more from him, I’m expecting him to be better because he won’t need to settle in, he knows the players, the club and the league now. Hopefully that will be a benefit and he’ll do even better than he did last year.”
