The first pass of the Bears first game of 2013 ended up in the other team's hands, as Jay Cutler was picked off by Panthers cornerback Josh Norman. Cutler settled down for the rest of the first quarter, finishing 6-of-8 for 56 yards.
Jay Cutler keeps fantasy value unchanged after preseason opener
Jay Cutler was efficient in his first preseason game under Marc Trestman, but he’d like to have his first pass of the game back. We break down the fantasy implications.

Cutler admitted after the game that there wasn’t a real gameplan for the Bears in the preseason opener. The team is still making the transition to a new offense, and reports indicate Cutler has a good understanding of the playbook.
Fantasy impact: With Trestman at the helm, he’s forcing Cutler to learn how to finally check down instead of forcing passes every chance he gets. Seeing him throw a pick with his first pass of the year isn’t what owners wanted to see, but that shouldn’t be cause for concern, yet.
Continue to consider Cutler as a QB2. With Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery and Matt Forte, the Bears offense has enough weapons to develop into a high-scoring machine. Cutler has upside with this group.
