    Weatherspoon and Samuel avoid serious injuries

    Garafolo reports that Weatherspoon endured a foot sprain that is not believed to be serious in nature, with more tests scheduled on Monday. Samuel tweaked a quad during the game against the Rams and Garafolo reports his exit from the game was precautionary. The Falcons are expected to update the injury statuses of Weatherspoon and Samuel on Monday. Both players will likely be limited in practice during Week 3.

    Both teams exchanged quite a few scores, but Atlanta proved to be the better team in Week 2. The win for the Falcons is a positive, but there is room to worry about the amount of injuries that are piling up for Atlanta. Dave Choate of The Falcoholic is very worried about the team’s durability:

    The Rams were able to comeback in the fourth quarter of the game to get into striking distance of the Falcons. Their resiliency over the past couple of weeks has been worth praise, but the team seems to have issues with building a lead early in a game. Brandon Birkhead of Turf Show Times believes the sloppy start to Week 2’s game was the nail in the coffin for the Rams:

    Falcons-Rams preview: Atlanta looks for first win

    Matt Ryan played a great game otherwise, including the pass before the interception which was dropped by Steven Jackson at the goal line. The former Boston College star threw for 304 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

    The Falcons were ultimately undone by going 3-for-11 on third down and turning the ball over twice, along with bad offensive line play yielding three sacks and numerous pressures. Now, Matt Ryan and the boys return home where they went 7-1 in the regular season each of the past two seasons.
