Ed Reed injury: Texans safety ‘unlikely’ to play vs. Titans

Ed Reed is expected to miss his second straight game for the Texans.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Texans may miss out on the Texans' debut of Ed Reed for the second week in a row. According to Ian Rapoport, Reed appears to be unlikely to play in Week 2. The veteran safety is still recovering from hip surgery that he received in the offseason. He was listed as questionable on the team's official injury report.

Reed missed the Texans' 31-28 win against the San Diego Chargers in Week 1. During the matchup against San Diego, the Texans' defense allowed just 263 total yards but also surrendered four touchdowns to the Chargers.

If Reed is unable to play, third-year safety Shiloh Keo will once again start at free safety. Keo made the first start of his career in Week 1 and finished the game with three tackles and a pass breakup. He has played mostly on special teams throughout his career.

The Texans will host the Tennessee Titans in Week 2 at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
