Melbourne Heart announced its final offseason recruitment at Family Day yesterday, unveiling Andrea Migliorini to fans in person and via Twitter. The 25-year-old Italian midfielder last played at FC Koper in the Slovenian PrvaLiga, the top flight in that country, and had a spell in Serie B with Livorno several years ago. Migliorini had been on trial with Heart for part of the pre-season, featuring in last week’s 1-1 draw with Perth Glory in Mandurah, after previously suiting up with Sydney FC during their Italian tour.

Manager John Aloisi explained the signing, saying:
”Losing Orlando [Engelaar] was a blow but adding Andrea as a central midfield option, as well as recruiting the experience of Patrick Kisnorbo and Michael Mifsud, ensures we’ll have depth to challenge this season. Andrea is an excellent passer and reader of the game, so I have no doubt he’ll make a positive impact.”
According to a club press release, Migliorini has been signed on a three month, injury replacement contract, mostly to help offset the loss of Engelaar.
