Darrelle Revis injury: Buccaneers CB on snap count vs. Jets

The Buccaneers plan to monitor the playing time of cornerback Darrelle Revis.

Al Messerschmidt

Tampa Bay Buccaneers' cornerback Darrelle Revis will play on Sunday against the New York Jets, but his playing time will be determined during the game. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Buccaneers will monitor the Pro Bowler's snap count during the contest as New York plans to test his movement with a combination of different routes. Revis is coming off an ACL tear that caused him to miss 14 games last season with the Jets.

Revis has been rehabbing the injury since last September and was traded to the Tampa Bay in April. The former All-Pro missed the entire preseason, so Sunday’s matchup against his old team will be his debut as a Buccaneer. Revis played the first six seasons of his career with the Jets and went to four Pro Bowls during his time in New York.

While the Buccaneers will have Revis on the field, the team will be missing Pro Bowl guard Carl Nicks. Nicks has been sidelined with Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), which is a type of staph infection that is resistant to antibiotics and typically appears as a skin infection. According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Nicks is out indefinitely.

The Buccaneers will play the Jets at MetLife Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m.
