CONCACAF teams can’t agree on Hexagonal schedule, will be settled by draw

The six teams competing in the final round of CONCACAF’s World Cup qualifying fail to come to agreement on the schedule, so FIFA will determine it by draw.

After representatives of the six nations competing in the final round of CONCACAF's World Cup qualifying tournament failed to come to an agreement on the schedule, they decided to let it be decided by a draw. The United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, Jamaica and Panama met for several hours on Friday before making the decision. The draw, which is overseen by FIFA, will be conducted within the next 30 days.

Why CONCACAF trusts FIFA over itself is anyone’s guess.

The "Hex" will start on Feb. 6, 2013 and must conclude by Oct. 15, 2013. Each of the six teams will play each other twice, home and away. The top three teams will automatically qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, with the No. 4 team competing against the winner of Oceania for another spot.
