Levante put some early pressure on Barcelona and scored the match's first goal in the 8th minute thanks to a bit of luck. Loukas Vyntra got free on an corner kick but his header was horribly off target, veering well wide of the net...or at least it should have. The ball hit off the side of Sergi Roberto and deflected back on frame, past José Manuel Pinto to make it 1-0.
Barcelona responded in the 28 minute when Adriano fired a low show from outside the area that elude Javi and found a place in the bottom corner of the goal to even the match at 1-1.
Carles Puyol moved Barca ahead in the 45th minute, putting home a powerful header off a cross from Cristian Tello. The goal extended the Blaugrana's aggregate lead to four goals, effectively ending Levante's already slim hopes.
As the rain continued to fall Barcelona poured it on in the second half bombarding the Levante goal and scoring seemingly at will as the half dragged on. Alexis Saánchez scored twice in two minutes, both times taking advantage of the slick conditions and jumping on mistakes by Javi.
Cesc Fábregs scored Barca’s fifth goal of the day in the 68th minute before making way to Abrahim Iffelay, who makes his return from an extended injury.
