A.J. Green will miss Week 7 vs. Colts with toe injury

Green also missed the Bengals’ tie with the Carolina Panthers in Week 6.

The Cincinnati Bengals will be without star wide receiver A.J. Green against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, as he told ESPN's Bob Holtzman that he will miss a second consecutive game due to a lingering toe injury. The toe, however, will not require surgery.

Green, 26, originally suffered the injury in a Week 2 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, but re-aggravated it in practice before Week 6. He missed the team's 37-37 tie with the Carolina Panthers, although Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton managed a season-best 323 passing yards without his top target. It was only the second game missed by Green in his career.

With Green expected to be out of the lineup again in Week 7, the Bengals will likely continue relying on the contributions of third-year receiver Mohamed Sanu, who was targeted 15 times by Dalton in Week 6. Sanu finished the game with a career-best 11 receptions for 120 yards, including a 34-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter.

Since he was selected with the fourth-overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, Green has been selected to three Pro Bowls and has 4,147 career receiving yards with 31 touchdowns.
