The post positions for the 2014 Breeders’ Cup Classic have been announced, and California Chrome will be starting from post 13.
Breeders’ Cup Classic 2014 post position draw: California Chrome starts in post 13
The Breeders’ Cup is California Chrome’s first race in several months.

California Chrome nearly became the first horse to win the Triple Crown since Affirmed in 1978. He entered the Kentucky Derby as the favorite and finished with the victory by 1.5 lengths. Chrome did it again in the Preakness, the second leg of the Triple Crown, where the colt outlasted Ride on Curlin to win by 1.5 lengths again.
Like so many Triple Crown horses before him, the Belmont is where Chrome's bid fell apart. Chrome finished in a tie for fourth place as Tonalist -- who will run out of post No. 11 at the Breeders' Cup -- took home the victory. A post-race controversy was sparked by co-owner Steve Coburn who criticized the Triple Crown system for allowing horses who had not competed in the previous two races. He has since apologized.
California Chrome was kept off the racetrack for several months to recover from a foot injury at Belmont. The horse has since returned to the track, racing in the East and finishing sixth in the Philadelphia Derby last month.
