All three teams have legitimate reasons for wanting to move, most of them stadium related. All three teams have struggled with attendance this season. The eight-win Chargers rank 26th in the NFL with a 91.8 percent home attendance rate, which is still better than the six-win Rams (29th at 87.5 percent) and two-win Raiders (30th at 85.3 percent). The Raiders have their lease on O.co Coliseum expiring in two weeks, but are expected to announce a 1-year extension with the stadium, leaving the future after the 2015 season still very much in the air.
Los Angeles has not had an NFL team since 1995, when the Raiders moved to Oakland. Los Angeles also used to host the Rams. The team moved to Anaheim in 1980, and then St. Louis in 1995.
Both teams moved away in part because of issues with the Los Angeles Coliseum. The city has proposed a brand new stadium for whichever team (teams?) ultimately make the move.
