Carmelo Anthony sums up the Knicks: ‘Fans are dying, we’re dying’
The struggles continue for New York with a loss to Washington.

Boos could be heard in Madison Square Garden several times Thursday in the 102-91 loss to the Wizards and Carmelo Anthony sympathized with upset fans after the game.
“I feel what the fans are feeling,” Anthony said to ESPN New York’s Ian Begley. “The fans are dying, we’re dying. We’re out there, we’re not producing. We didn’t expect, I didn’t expect to be sitting at 5-26. So as much as I feel for the fans, I feel for us going through it, too. I don’t expect nobody to feel sorry for us, I don’t expect nobody to feel sorry for me.”
It's not just Anthony and the fans, though -- it boiled over for Quincy Acy in the fourth quarter when he threw a half punch, half forearm at John Wall, who had been killing the Knicks the entire night. The punch earned Acy an ejection and a one-game suspension.
Anthony remains the dominant scorer he’s always been, still averaging 24 points on 46 percent shooting. But he’s playing 37 minutes a night and was on the floor 43 minutes on Christmas, and that still wasn’t enough. New York now sits one game behind the league-worst Sixers in the standings.
It seems like there’s nowhere to go but up for the Knicks, yet they keep finding ways to make this season worse.
