NBA schedule and results: Cavaliers nip Magic for rebound win, Rockets beat Grizzlies in OT

There is a lot of head touching going on in Denver, and Nate Robinson is the one primarily responsible.

Not only did Victor Oladipo throw down a nasty jam on LeBron James, but he did it while being fouled. Shame there wasn’t a whistle called considering LeBron clearly hits his arm, but still a great dunk.

In the first game he sat out for rest and “overall soreness,” the Lakers knocked off the NBA’s best team, Golden State. And it’s true; the numbers show that statistically, Los Angeles is much, much better with Bryant off the floor than on.

The Lakers outscore their opponents by about eight points more per 100 possessions when Bryant is on the bench, per NBA.com’s stats. If Los Angeles could sustain that number for their whole team, it’d be second-best in the league only behind the Warriors. The problem is that when Bryant takes the floor, their offense craters from 110 points per 100 possessions to 102 and the defense also gets much worse,

Eating too much, sinking into a food coma in front of a slate of NBA games. It felt like Christmas, but something was missing; someone wasn’t there. Craig Sager’s loud suits and sideline interviews didn’t grace our TVs in 2014, but this tribute to the broadcaster and his battle with leukemia was perfect.

Sager is winning his fight. A bone marrow transplant with son Craig Jr. was successful, and while he’s not out of the woods yet, Sager’s wife Stacy summed up his recovery perfectly: “A miracle.”

By the high standards James has set throughout his career, it’s easy to see the Cavaliers as disappointing. But James himself warned us before the season started that this year might be tough, and in doing so clearly showed he understands the team better than any of us.

Wall scored 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting, dishing 11 assists and grabbing six rebounds for good measure. He plays the game at a speed few others can match, yet somehow is always in control. Westbrook can improvise everything as he goes, which is great and works for him, but Wall is calm and calculated even while breaking land speed records. It’s just so hard to stop someone who can make plays like this.
