Le’Veon Bell goes to locker room with knee injury, doubtful to return

Le’Veon Bell had to leave Sunday night’s pivotal bout against the Bengals with a hyperextended knee. He is doubtful to return, and there is no word yet on his status for the playoffs.

Le'Veon Bell left Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals with a hyperextended knee. His return to the game has been announced as doubtful.

Bell was able to trot off the field under his own power, but he went to the Pittsbugh Steelers' locker room after being examined by trainers on the sideline.

The Steelers running back has struggled to stay healthy during his first two seasons in the NFL. He missed what should have been the first three games of his 2013 rookie season with a Lisfranc injury.

After getting back up to full strength, however, Bell has been an incredibly productive player in the Steelers' offense. This season, he has gone over 100 yards rushing four times, including a 204-yard performance against the Tennessee Titans in Week 11.

With Bell likely out for the rest of the game, the Steelers will rely on rookie backups Dri Archer and Josh Harris to handle the rushing load.

Bell suffered the injury after taking a hit to his knee in the third quarter.
