Winter Olympics 2014 speed skating schedule: Medal events in both short and long track
Three gold medals are set to be handed out on a busy day for speed skating. Here’s the complete schedule for Saturday.

Speed skating continues with a busy schedule on Saturday. There are three medal events on tap, and the women’s short track 1500m is the main headliner.
The biggest story heading into this event is the status of the American team. Once considered big medal favorites across the board, Team USA has flopped in nearly every speed skating competition, failing to get on the podium atall so far. The team blamed its poor performance on the new Under Armour suits, claiming that the athletes haven’t had enough time to get acquainted with them. The team has moved to drop those suits entirely and go with the ones the skaters wore during their dominant World Cup run earlier in 2013. It’s unknown if the athletes will switch suits in the middle of the games, but they now have that option.
For now, the Americans will press on in the women’s 1500m short track event, with Emily Scott, Jessica Smith and Alyson Dudek hoping to salvage something out of a disappointing run. Elsewhere, the men finish up their 1000m final and the lone long track event is the men’s 1500m final.
Here’s the complete schedule for Saturday (all times are ET, medal events in italics):
