Winter Olympics 2014 snowboarding schedule: Women’s cross the main event on Sunday

The women’s cross race is the top snowboarding event on Saturday. Here’s the complete schedule.

Snowboarding continues at the Winter Olympics on Saturday, with the main event being the women’s cross run.

The qualification runs start at 2 a.m. ET, with a total of 24 women in the field. The top 16 move on to the quarterfinal round, which begins at 4:15 a.m. There will be four individual heats in this round, with the top two finishers in each run moving on to the semifinal. From there, the field gets narrowed down to four snowboarders, and they will compete in the winner-take-all final run at 4:40 a.m.

Maelle Ricker won the gold in this event in Vancouver and is a favorite to reach the podium again. Australia’s Torah Bright is another big name competing after taking the silver medal in halfpipe. The top American contender is Lindsey Jacobellis. She won the bronze in 2006, but just missed out on the final round in Vancouver. Jacqueline Hernandez is the other American competing in this event.

4:15 a.m. - Women’s cross qualification

4:30 a.m. - Women’s cross semifinal

4:40 a.m. - Women’s cross final
