SB Nation 2014 Olympics Preview

As the Winter Olympics eclipse the halfway point, Sunday in Sochi is a relatively light day for skiing, but gets off in a hurry with the men’s alpine Super-G opening up the fun on the slopes.

American Bode Miller, in his comeback season off of a major knee surgery, will return to action following some disappointing results in his first two events of the 2014 Games, an eighth-place finish in the downhill followed by sixth in super combined. But, as hope springs eternal, the United States’ bad boy skier has yet another chance to podium, and in one of his specialties, no less. Miller won World Cup season titles in the Super-G in 2005 and 2007, the 2005 World Championships, and is also the silver medalist in the event at the 2010 Vancouver Games.

Though Miller -- as well as the rest of the American skiers, for that matter -- has had some hiccups at the Games thus far, he enters off some World Cup momentum in Super-G, it being his most recent World Cup season podium finish, in second at the discipline’s most recent stop in Kitzbühel, Austria in late January.

Lone men’s cross-country and biathlon events follow later in the morning.

1 a.m.: Men’s Super-G

Cross-country skiing

5 a.m.: Men’s Relay 4x10km

Biathlon
