Sochi Olympics snowboarding results: Alex Deibold wins bronze for Team USA
A photo finish and surprise winners made the finals at Rosa Khutor a special event.

Fog pushed the start of Men’s Snowboard Cross to Tuesday, but the delay didn’t hamper the competition. The big final was a thrilling race that saw a photo finish for gold and silver, while Alex Deibold of Team USA took home bronze.
Deibold saved his best performance for the right time, following a disappointing season in the FIS World Cup that saw him finish in the Top 10 twice, adding a 39th and 48th place finish. Part of his struggles were due to an injury sustained in 2013 that required surgery, but the 27-year-old showed no signs of any impediment on the slopes Tuesday.
France won its third gold medal of Sochi thanks to Pierre Vaultier. His career has been marred by strong finishes outside of the Winter Olympics, but failing to make an impact at the highest level. Vaultier finished ninth in Vancouver in 2010 and 35th in Torino back in 2006.
The home town Sochi crowd had plenty to cheer about with Nikolay Olyunin winning the first silver medal in Snowboardcross for Russia.
