The sun set on Sochi and the final medals in curling were awarded at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Two games were decided on Friday, with Canada ultimately taking the gold in the men’s final, earning their second-straight gold medal in men’s curling.

Facing Great Britain, Canada jumped out to an early advantage, leading the British 5-1 after the first three ends. That lead would hold up throughout the match, with Great Britain struggling to score on Canada. The Canadians added to their tally in the seventh end, scoring two more stones to take an 8-2 lead that all but sealed the match.

Team Canada would go on to blow out the British, 9-3. Skipper Brad Jacobs was dominant, with his game percentage sitting at 95%, while teammate Ryan Harnden excelled as well, finishing with a 94% game percentage.

The win gave Canada its 23rd medal of the Sochi Games and third of the day, as two Canadians also grabbed medals in the ladies ski cross final. Team Canada has now won nine gold medals in Sochi, the second-most of any country, and their 23 total medals puts them in a tie with Russia for second-most at these Olympics.

It took 11 ends to decide the bronze medal game with Sweden squeaking by a talented Chinese team. The game appeared lost when China scored a critical stone in the ninth end to take a one stone lead, but a clutch performance by skipper Niklas Edin saw Sweden score in the 10th to tie the game, before playing a near-perfect two-stone end to win 6-4.

Edin’s accuracy was on another level, lifting his Olympic percentage from 86 to 94 when it counted the most. A disappointing loss in the semis kept them out of the gold medal game, but Sweden wont go home empty handed.
