Elimination Chamber results: Big E retains Intercontinental Championship against Jack Swagger

HOSS FIGHT.

The Intercontinental Championship still belongs to Big E, who retained at the end of an excellent match with Jack Swagger.

Big E, formerly Big E Langston, had been Intercontinental Champ for about three months heading into this event. He’s comfortably defeated all challengers for his belt, but Swagger is by far the most credible threat he’s faced since becoming champion. Swagger, who held the Big Gold Belt before the titles were unified, has spent most of his year in a tag team with Elimination Chamber participant Cesaro. He won a fatal four-way match to get this title shot, defeating Kofi Kingston, Rey Mysterio and Mark Henry.

If hoss fights aren’t exactly your thing, I’m sorry. If they are, you’ll probably find yourself watching this one again. As far as matches where two very large people beat the crap out of each other by mostly showing off how strong they are go, this was excellent. It also featured a surprising high spot where Swagger threw Big E off the top rope.

Swagger put Big E in the Patriot Lock on a couple of occasions, but Big E countered the second in pretty spectacular fashion. He powered himself onto the one foot that wasn’t being twisted, then jumped into a kick to the back of Swagger’s head. That allowed him to set up the Big Ending, followed by a pin.

Afterwards, we got some bad news from Bad News Barrett. He talked about how Russia won more medals than the United States at the Olympics. He did not insult Big E. How unfortunate.

Big E was happy to win!
