How to watch Sochi Olympics 2014 online, TV schedule and more

So far, much of the coverage of the 2014 Sochi Olympics has revolved around ... bathrooms and bad water. Well, that’s all about to change, as the events are set to open Thursday, a day before the opening ceremonies are even held. They’ll get underway at 1 a.m. ET early Thursday morning -- 10 a.m. local time -- with training and qualifiers in the women’s super-combined alpine skiing and the men’s slopestyle snowboarding, respectively.

The highlight of the first day will come in the evening, at least for those in Sochi: the men’s short program figure skating and pairs short program figure skating as well. Those will begin at 10:30 a.m. and 12:10 p.m., respectively.

If you’re hoping to watch on TV, well you’ve probably already heard that everything on NBC is going to be on tape delay this year. That’s just what happens when there’s a nine-hour difference. If you want to catch the tape delay, you can tune in to NBC at 8-11 p.m., or catch the encore from 1:35-4:30 a.m.

But if you want to watch online, you really only have one option: NBCOlympics.com. NBC will stream every single event live this year, but if you don’t have a television provider equipped with the proper package, you won’t get access.
