The world’s oldest annual marathon kicks off on Monday morning with the 2014 Boston Marathon. Some of the world’s top athletes will join thousands of casual runners in the historic race, which is held, as always, on Patriots’ Day.

The course begins on Main Street in the rural New England town of Hopkinton and runs for 26.2 miles, ending on Boylston Street near Copley Square.

The race begins at 9:32 a.m. ET with the Women’s Elite, and the Men’s Elite follows at 10 a.m. It will be broadcast locally by CBS Boston WBZ-TV and nationally on Universal Sports. There will also be a live stream hosted by the official race site.
With over 20,000 people registered and another 50,000 expected spectators, several road closures will be in effect to make way for the race and handle the crowd. Those are listed in the table below.

Vehicle traffic in Boston will be limited on Marathon Monday and city officials have advised spectators to use the MBTA to travel into the city instead of driving. Newbury Street and Huntington Avenue outbound will be closed to vehicles.
